Well as I was doing my morning tread mill routine today and watching BBC Sports they did mention, in passing and right at the end, the NFL game. Sort of an "oh by the way" comment. I did not detect lots of enthusiasm.

Oh and you can add one more Spurs fan to the mix.

:)

Has it been confirmed that Duchess Camilla will do the coin flip?

"Sort of an "oh by the way" comment"

That's the light relief at the end of the news spot, generally taken up by cats in trees, grannies running marathons, people bicycling backwards etc.

PalenQ Oct 25th, 2007 11:47 AM

Really what is with this infestation of Spurs fans on Fodor's?

Me too, i am a fanatic Spurs fan

PatrickLondon Oct 25th, 2007 12:24 PM

Skateboarding ducks, Waring - now that could be a competitive sport, don't you think? Cheaper than racing horses, anyway.

PalenQ Oct 25th, 2007 12:28 PM

Are conkers a sport?

<<< Really what is with this infestation of Spurs fans on Fodor's? >>>

It's the furthest they can get away from the football results - I was going to say football but then I realised they could do that by going to WHL

GeorgeW Oct 25th, 2007 12:52 PM

Will there be a big tailgate party outside Wembley like is done before the football games in America? Grilled brats, ribs and burgers with plenty of Budweiser and Miller flowing. It's not really a football game without a tailgate party.

alanRow Oct 25th, 2007 12:54 PM

PalenQ so who do you think the new boy will be?

PalenQ Oct 25th, 2007 12:55 PM

And bud is very popular in England now - kind of like American football, Budweiser is replacing the more traditonal English lagers in British tastes.

Budweiser of course was a sponsor of the 2006 World Soccer Cup in Germany

fnarf999 Oct 25th, 2007 01:00 PM

"traditonal English lagers"

Why is everything you say so mangled and wrong, Pal?

Traditional English beer = ale, not lager.

PalenQ Oct 25th, 2007 01:03 PM

traditional in the sense that since i started going to england and pubs in 1969 more locals drank lager than ale it seemed

though i did indeed in your context use 'traditional' wrong to me it was traditional for English folks to ask for a 'pint a lager' in a pub than that flat traditional ale

waring Oct 25th, 2007 01:27 PM

No such thing as tailgate parties.

Budweiser is muck, Budvar Budweiser is a decent beer.

Brat means ill behaved child, which we do grill.

PatrickLondon Oct 25th, 2007 01:38 PM

I can't imagine Wembley new or old allowing people to set up barbecues in their carparks. Though I rather think something like that has been known to happen in rugby circles.

PalenQ Oct 25th, 2007 06:13 PM

Yes i'm sure BBQ tailgates would no doubt violate some local ordinance about open fires

Cholmondley_Warner Oct 26th, 2007 12:31 AM

PalenQ so who do you think the new boy will be?>>>

Alan - he has no idea what you are talking about. It's Ramos though - by the middle of next week (at least that's the word on the Tottenham High Road)

Last night at the Lane was probably the most surreal evening's football I have ever been to. The crowd stopped caring about the game.

Re: Tailgating at Wembley: Most fans will come by tube, and the car parks aren't big enough to allow barbeques etc so I'd be amazed if it were permitted.

It goes on at Twickenham though. 'Nuff said.

PatrickLondon Oct 26th, 2007 12:51 AM

Well, one has to do something with Granny's heirloom picnic hamper, doesn't one?

I see Phil Space at the Guardian decided to humour PalenQ:

But if it's on Sky Sports, it's competing with heaven knows what. The kind of person that likes all that might easily be distracted by:

PalenQ Oct 26th, 2007 06:18 AM

'who will be next' of course refers to the next coach of the Spurs after current one was or is being dumped

i can't imagine anyone taking this - like taking over as captain on the Titantic IMO

RM67 Oct 26th, 2007 06:22 AM

I saw an internet rumour (admittedly on an Arsenal Fanzine site) that Clive Allen might take over....

I think the saying you are looking for Bob is 'Rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic'

8-)

PalenQ Oct 26th, 2007 06:25 AM

Well Titanic is not the word as this the H.M. Spurs has already sunk.

audere is lying low because of the shame
