I've got an overnight layover through Heathrow. Can anybody recommend an inexpensive hotel near the airport? If I have the energy is it worth going into town to walk around?

You might get a few replies if you reposted under "I need an inexpensive hotel near Heathrow"
Try Priceline for a hotel & who knows if you have enough time as "overnight layover" could be anything from a 5 hour to 24 hour stay |
Hi jd,
Please be more specific about "overnight layover". ((I)) |
This past September we got the Sheraton Skyline at LHR on Priceline for a total (inlcuding fees) of $120 per night. Given the usual prices for that hotel I felt this was a good deal. You may not consider that "inexpensive."
I assume the "going into town" part concerns London and not Hayes which is where the hotels are most located. |
I'm coming back from Tripoli at 6:00 pm and leaving for SFO at 10:00 am the next day. I was thinking about $100- $125 .I've changed planes at Heathrow many times but havn't been into town in years as far as hotels and trains go.

For some real inexpensive hotels, try:
http://www.all-hotels.com/europe/uni..._airport_1.htm If you have the time, you can get an Underground train into the middle of London (get off at Piccadilly Circus or Leicester Square. You will not have to change trains) from Heathrow in about an hour and for little money, but do be aware of what time the Underground closes as a taxi back is very expensive. |
jd,
We have stayed at the Ibis in the past. It is a reasonable place to stay (less than $100) for a layover. It's not fancy, but the rooms are clean and it is convenient. They have a shuttle to and from the airport. I won't bother going into town with that amount of time, it just won't be worth it. Greg |
I also got the Sheraton Slyline Hotel at Priceline for 120 US Dollars and thought it was a great deal. I liked the hotel rooms very much.

I booked with Holiday Extras
http://tinyurl.com/yng2nf and have the Hilton (with free parking because I am UK based) for 59 GBP. If you just want a hotel for one night prices start at around 40 GBP. |
