The International Students House in Great Portland Street has multibedded, twin and single dorms. Prices at £12 to £30 a night.

hi,

thanks for replying...is there an age maximum on staying at a hostel?

henneth Mar 23rd, 2006 06:04 PM

Not at all. Have a look at www.ish.org.uk and see what you think.

hi,

it looks like you must be a student to stay there??

Then say you're a student. Turn up with a back-pack and say you are on a sabbatical from your PhD. It doesn't matter because they won't ask.
Call the number on the website and see what they can do for you. There are people that stay at ISH that use it as a base for travelling around the UK and Europe but are not necessarily full or part time students.
If you are unsure about it then check the YHA, someone may be able to tell you about the quality of accomodation there or in other hostels, but from personal experience ISH is a good quality hostel in a central London location.

There are some hostel recommendations in London from the readers of my newspaper here:
http://tinyurl.com/pkjf9

They're not listed by place, unfortunately, so you'll have to hunt them out from among other places in the UK.

You can also try the EasyHotel in Kensington:
