London
What is a good book for best places to see in London. Staying at Somerset Bayswater Apartments(Notting Hill) 19 days in May. How is this hotel? What part of London is Notting Hill? I can't find it on my map!
|
Portobello Road runs through the Notting Hill area. But you should find the exact address of your apartment to see where you'll be. Bayswater is on the north side of Kensington Gardens and should be on your map if it outline's London's areas.
Most any of the guidebooks on London are good. Check out your library and look for "DK Eyewitness" "Lonely Planet" "Fodors" "Frommers" and "Rick Steves" to start with. Also, look for things like "Good Eats" by (I think) Sue Gustafson - please someone correct her name if I'm off. "Born to Shop - London" by Suzy Gershman. The Michelin guide. And any other books you see there on London. Then, search this site for London to find all the off the beaten path tips and great places to eat. There's more info here than you could fill a year with in London! |
What is the address of the hotel? Are you sure it's not in Bayswater (as the name suggests) rather than Notting Hill? They are close to each other - north and northwest of Kensington Gardens but there is a difference.

The map here
http://www.discountcityhotels.com/Lo...er-GALLERY.htm shows it just off Westbourne Grove, slightly closer to the Bayswater tube than Notting Hill. I think it's the same as the Somerset Bayswater Hotel described here http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...n_England.html with good reviews. |
Call the British Tourist Authority - they send out a free London Planner listing many sights, giving practical info and current plays, etc. Used to be free but even if they charge postage a nice thing to have 800-462-2748; www.travelbritain.org
