London 2For1 question
I am wanting to get tickets to Kensington Palace to be able to see the new Diana dresses exhibit.
I see that the tickets can be bought online now. We are going to London in October. If I wait until the dates expand on the 2For1 site, [now they are only til April 30] will I chance not being able to get tickets? I also see that they offer "Concessions"; I am guessing that these are only for UK residents - is that correct? If they are available to anyone, would it be better to buy tickets to KP now, paying more for 2 Concessions tickets than using 2For1 but perhaps not getting tickets. Thanks~ |
Concessions mean seniors, students etc . . . Usually open to anyone no matter nationality. The age for concessions is often 60 but that dies vary IME.
Re Kensington palace: I haven't checked the site - is it a separate cost exhibition or included in tbe palace admission? But in any case, you cannot pre-purchase any 2for1 tickets to any of the covered sites. You must show up on the day with your printed voucher, a paper travelcard or train ticket and then you get in 2for the price of one. IF the exhibition is an extra cost add on to regular palace entry I suppose you could go ahead and purchase just that. ( typically exhibits at Kensington Palace are included in the regular admission) |
I just looked at the website and the dress exhibition seems to be just part of the regular palace tour.
Not timed tickets or anything like that. |
OK, so that leaves me to decide whether or not to "take a chance" on getting tickets to KP on the day of ... or to buy ahead to be sure to get in. I did see that the tickets are good for 7 days from the date chosen.
Yes, I understood the definition of Concession...sadly. LOL. |
One more thing . . . I have been to KP several times over the years, including when there were exhibitions of things like Diana's wardrobe, royal wedding dresses, the queens gowns, etc and never bought tix ahead of time.
. . . And the exhibition is scheduled to run for at least the next year. It won't be a problem getting in. |
You really don't need to order KP tickets in advance. Just show up when it opens in the morning.
If you're a Diana fan, walk through Kensington Palace Gardens to Notting Hill Gate and go to Cafe Diana. Or go for breakfast before your visit to KP. |
