I'm sure you didn't intend that as an insult. But I can think of few descriptions I'd be more offended by.

Flattery of course will get anyojne anywhere.

But "exhastive knowledge and elequent way" isn't quite the first description of the professors I know that comes to mind

It looks like a cartoon doodled by a bored, pimply kid in study hall.

On another forum I have seen it described as looking like "Lisa Simpson giving a bl*w-job".

Now go and look at it again....

I like it!

It's better than the Barcelona one (too many competing primary colors).

Thanks to this logo I had my first ever discussion with my parents about b-jobs. Although my dad handled it with some humour..
Mum...some people are saying the logo is rude but I don't see how?
Dad... no I don't see it either.
They spot the look on my face.
Dad...go on, tell us.
Me... I can't but it involves Lisa Simpson on the right hand side and a man on the left hand side.
Dad looked thoughtful for a moment.
Dad...is she playing the saxaphone again?

I would wager that this *&%£$ will be replaced very soon. Causing lots of ugly comments here in Scotland!

I really like th 2012 logo that was the winner on the BBC site. Simple, but very cool!

I also liked this one:

Oh - here is a link to the one that won the BBC contest. I think it's great:

steviegene, think ceremonial costume of Pacific Northwest native Americans. Probably an eagle theme.

The furore has stimulated someone to design THE definitive logo

I read this thread and then took a look at the logo.

Audere: I saw your description all too clearly. Oh well, what can you expect from a city that builds oversized gherkins?

Nona: wonderful story. Thanks for sharing.

Yes that first one looks great Flanner, and it probably only cost about 17p to design.
Why do they waste so much money??
It will do nicely.

I don't mind the Vancouver one. Looks like a totem pole to me, which makes sense for the region. The London choice makes no sense at all (unless somebody got a whopping big bribe out of it, that's the only excuse I can think of).
