LONDON 2 FOR 1 DEALS

we plan 4 days in London and I would like to take advantage of 2 for 1 deals. Can someone please tell me how do I take advantage of this deal. I understand it is linked with the train system and the blurb says that you can take advantage of this offer when you arrive in London by train. We are arriving by Eurostar and I know its not linked so how can I take advantage of this offer ?

Not Eurostar. It's set up by the companies operating national rail services to encourage their rush hour commuters to use the trains at other times as well. So you would need a ticket from one of them, valid for the day(s) on which you want to use a 2for1 voucher, if any of the attractions listed are your thing.

So you need to print out the voucher(s) first, and then make sure you have a valid ticket - the easiest way to do this is to buy a 7-day London travelcard from one of the national rail stations in London - in your case, St Pancras when you arrive (but NOT from the Underground station, you would need to go the other way to the National Rail ticket offices, and then trek back into the tube or bus or however you're going to where you're staying).

The travelcard will cover travel on TfL local transport (tubes, buses), whereas the travelcard issued by TfL on the Oyster electronic card doesn't cover the 2for1 offers.

For 4 days, a 7-day travelcard is pretty cost-effective compared with the alternatives; you can get one-day travelcards from National Rail stations, but it would be a faff having to get a new ticket each day. Or if you only want to use the 2for1s on one or two days, you could get one-day travelcards from National Rail for those days, and use Oyster pay-as-you-go for the rest of your London travel - but there wouldn't be much difference financially.

Just do what Pat says and get the 7-day cards. If you get a blue Oyster card, you messed up.

so if i was to catch a train to hampton court, then the train ticket would enable me to use the 2 for 1 deals?

"so if i was to catch a train to hampton court, then the train ticket would enable me to use the 2 for 1 deals?"

Yes, but for that day only. And how would you get to and from Waterloo for the train to H Court?

Since you need to get round London anyway (on the day you plan going to H Court, just as much as your other days), there's no reason not to buy the Travelcard Patrick recommended
