London - taking the underground to LHR.
I will be in London overnight, I arrive from Manchester on Sunday night and I plan on staying in the King's Cross area near the station, since i arrive late (aobut 10 pm at night). I next morning I have a 9.30 am flight from LHR. What time does the underground start operating in the morning, I'll need to be at LHR by 7.30 am is this possilbe? I am concerned that this will be during rush hour and I could have problems going to LHR.
Thanks in advance?

Weekdays and Saturday the tube starts at around 0530 and since Kings Cross is right on the Picadilly line, you should be fine....as far as riding in rush hours yes on a weekday you'll be passing through Central London but once past Earls Court, you're out of Central London and it shouldn't be all that bad.
Be aware that there are 2 services to LHR so you have to know what terminal you want...one service goes to Terminals 1,2,3 and then on to Terminal 5 while the other only stops at Terminal 4 (although after a wait it does go back to Terminals 1,2,3)...make sure you get on the right train!
On Sunday, the tube doesn't start up till around 0715 so you can't do it on a Sunday.

You'll probably want to leave an hour for the journey, more if you want to build in extra incase of delays.
At that time of the morning, on a weekday, you'll miss the worst of the rush hour which starts building up at around 7.30 am.
I'd keep a close eye out on potential engineering works or tube strikes so you can, if you must, book a taxi or make alternative arrangements.

Trains from Manchester usually arrive at Euston Station. Just around the corner is an Ibis Hotel (3 Cardington Street) that would be a good overnight stop.
To get to Heathrow from Euston, take the Victoria Line to Grren Park and then change onto the Piccadilly Line.

Thanks for all the information, I looked at train prices and flight prices, guess which costs less? The flight, believe it or not, so now I'll be flying to LHR, which will make everything easier.
