Yes, it is possible but do realise these towns are quite a distance. Amboise fine, you have chosen a magnificent hotel. Tours, yes well maybe a bit of shopping and lunch, Cheverny quite a distance, and beside the chateau not much else there although a lovely bistro 'Le Pichet' opposite. Don't miss Chenonceaux, Chambord will take a full day, Villandry and Tours is a good one day combination. If you want to see what's happening at all these chateaus you could try www.myweekin.net for other activities, remember October will be quite cool so think of dining at places where's there's a fireplace for ambiance, I can recommend La Maison Tourangelle, Chateau du Pray 5 minutes from your hotel and perhaps a groovy restaurant in 'centre ville' Tours, Riva Gauche. Enjoy, I live here and its wonderful!

Since you're primarily interested in the outside of the châteaux, be sure to see Saumur: right out of the Très Riches Heures du Duc de Bercy. The Cinderella castle of Ussé is another good one.
If you decide to see any interiors, look for the ones that don't require tours. Otherwise you can end up following along for 2 hours or so. |
Where is my brain today? The château of Ussé is the model for the Sleeping Beauty castle.

Hi all, we just returned from our Loire Valley trip a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to post my photos:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikeand...7608245660034/ It was great! Although I could have easily spent another few days, I thought our 4 day trip was great and we saw so much! We took over 1100 pictures, so the ones I uploaded are a small sample! Anna |
how about posting a trip report in this post?
