The Loire valley is not exactly on the way. The Autoroute du Soleil takes you right through the heart of Provence.

Best wishes,

Rex
Depending on the amount of time, you can do both. In the Loire, the Auberge de Templiers was a beautiful inn with delicious (Michelin 2-star?) food.

We drove from Paris to Normandy to Loire to Provence and finally to Nice for the flight home. We had two weeks and I don't know how long you have to see either Loire or Provence. We enjoyed both very much although we spent more time in Provence staying in Orange and Aix. There is so much to see and do that one week in Provence was not nearly enough. Try reading the Michelin books on each region and see what interests you the most and make your decision. Good luck!
