Loire Chateau-Hotel Domaine de la Tortiniere

Bonjour, la compagnie!

Does anyone have any light to shed on chateau-hotel Domaine de la Tortiniere in Tours? We had been planning on staying at Ch. des Ormeaux and had been in touch with them several times, but when it came time to book for a one-night stay in June 2008 they are now full..not the case with Tortiniere. Anybody have infos?

Merci!

sorry - I should have added that I have already checked tripadvisor and Tortiniere has garnered mostly 4s and 5s with one 1.

Hi msm4.. Hope you are still on board for a reply..Loire chateau-hotel domaine de la tortiniere..LOVED IT!!! We were there in the fall of 2006 and the grounds were ablaze with wild azalea flowers. We stayed in the outer building.. Huge room. If they have not redecorated it was the pink and green one on the website. the food was also great. Do try it. easy access to chateaus and they gave directions very nicely. Hope you have a wonderful time..

We have stayed there a couple of years ago, obviously in the same room as amer can. In fact, it was a two-storey suite and we stayed there with our family of five (!) very comfortably.

The location is great, right in the mid of the Loire valley. La Tortiniere has a nice outdoor pool and a large, very beautiful park overlooking the river. The location is absolutely quiet.

We had booked half-board and got good food. For a decent supplement, we could upgrade to items of the more expensive menus.

When we will be in the area for the next time we will stay there again. For sure.

Just to be sure:

La Tortiniere is not in Tours, but in the countryside out of town. So, you need a car. But is close to Tours.

Here's more praise for La Tortinière--fine place to stay. But ask whether all the rooms are now air-conditioned in case you hit a hot spell in June.
