Logistics FCO to Florence and Siena
A friend is planning a trip to Italy.
he will land at Rome airport and wants to visit Florence and Siena before returning to spend time in Rome and then will go home. Logistically, other than flying to Florence, what is the easiest way to travel to Florence or Siena from FCO airport? Is getting to one or the other easier from Rome? The alternative i've suggested is that he go to Florence from Rome (how?) and then just daytrip to Siena. His time only allows one day for Siena, and at most two for Florence. He has been to Florence before. suggestions? |
He can take the airport train to Stazione Termini in Rome then hop on a ES train for the 90 minute ride to Florence. They run regularly.
Siena is an easy daytrip by bus from Florence. |
sorry, does that mean that siena is more difficult as a direct trip from rome?
|
Yes. Siena is not on the main train route from Rome to Milan, while Florence is. Siena is more easily reached by bus (or car).

I'm wondering myself now, where is the bus station in Rome, with regard to getting there from the airport and going on to Siena?

>...where is the bus station in Rome, with regard to getting there from the airport and going on to Siena?<
See http://www.senabus.it/ I would recommend going directly to Florence and visiting Siena as a daytrip via SITA bus. The station is about 2 blocks from the Florence SMN train station. See http://www.sita-on-line.it/ ((I)) |
Actually, I've gone to Siena from Florence by bus, I don't know about Nike, but I was wondering about the bus station in Rome.
|
Nike/ Elaine - The Rome - Siena bus leaves from Stazione Tiburtina in Rome.
[Tiburtina station is a short ride on Metro Line 'B' from Termini ... or Colosseo] There are several buses daily. Journey time: approx. 3 hrs. Here's the link: http://www.sena.it/ita/activenews.as...PULLFX04790439 Hope this helps ... Steve |
it's all helpful to me, thanks
