Lofoten

Im travelung to norway in july. Flights not quite booked but looks like leaving the 13th. Stopover i iceland and arriving oslo the 16th and leaving the 30th.

Part of my trip i was doung port to port on hurtigruten. Tromso down to trondheim

However now i think i would like to spend sometime in lofoten instead. I dont want to rent a car. All guided day tours i have found require 2 people to book what about us solo travelers!

So withiut a car how hard would it be to get from the hurtigruten port to somewhere pretty like Reine? If accommodatio z are still even available...

Or should i just do excursions ans save a lenghty stay for a future trip when id be willing to rent a car with someone.

I don't know the answer but congratulations on the booking.

We have done the same trip, Tromso to Trondheim with Hurtigruten but during winter. Stunning is an over used superlative but in this case it applies.

You are very right to do a stop over in The Lofotens, we were on a tight schedule and so had to settle for 2 hour stop in Svolvaer.

You also have the huge advantage of endless daylight , we were limited to 3 hours and day which was quite frustrating but the endless Aurora shows and 20ft of snow offset the limited daylight.

Reine looks achingly beautiful but I have heard reports that it is absolutely rammed with tourists in summer during the day. It maybe worth doing an Air BnB short term rental to enjoy the town when the crowds have left the town. Not sure.

Trondheim is a sedate, affluent small city and we loved the city indoor pool/ water park with its immense glass walls overlooking the fjord. The shops in the city are well worth some time, as is the cathedral.

We simply love coastal Norway.

There are buses on the islands but schedules are limited. Use this journey planner to see the options http://rutebok.no/nriiis/Default.aspx?Language=e

I was there a few years back but hired a car and there were two of us

Seems to me you've explored so much already that NIN is just overkill. Why not spend some time kicking back in Bergen, or add a few days to Oslo and take it easy there? Oslofjord is beautiful, and a bit more time would give you the opportunity to take it easy in Bygdøy or explore Oslo's green spaces a bit.
