Lodgings Near MSM

We will be traveling to MSM for 1 day/night after touring the D-day beaches, etc from Bayeux. Could you please recommend lodgings near MSM? We will have a rental car so it doesn't need to be on the mainland.

Also, has anyone heard or stayed at Le Petit Coq?

Thanks you!

There is a big cluster of hotels on the mainland just before the Mont Saint Michel causeway.

Googling "Le Petit Coq" I saw that it claims to be 30 minutes from the Normandy landing beaches and 60 minutes from Mont Saint Michel, so I would hardly call it "near MSM."

We stayed here in 2009:

http://www.le-relais-du-roy.com/EN/h..._roy/index.php

Here is my review from that stay:
We stayed here for one night in the family suite (room 102). Our group was DH and I, DD age 22 and DS age 19. The family suite was very spacious. On entry if you went to the left there was a queen bed, with a small wall attached nightstand on each side and a desk in the corner. There was also a large closet in this room and a wall mounted TV. In the corner of this room there was a small room containing the toilet. Straight across from entering the suite was a spacious shower room containing a tub with shower with no shower curtain but a half glass wall to keep the water in. There was also a large counter area with double sinks. To the right of the suite entry was a separate bedroom with 2 twin beds with a nighstand between and a loft above with another twin bed. This room also had a closet and the left side of this closet had a sink with a mirror above. The only negative was the few number of electrical outlets in the room. My husband uses a sleep apnea machine and it was hard to find a place close enough to the bed to plug it in.

Location was on the end of the causeway from Mont St. Michel. There was plenty of free parking. The hotel had a restaurant, but we didn't try it. There are a few less expensive places to eat across the street.

After dark we left the hotel and walked up towards Mont. St. Michel to see it lit up.

www.chateaudebouceel.com This chateau is about eight miles from MSM. You will be treated as friends by the Count and if you wish, will learn about his family that goes back centuries. A great place to stay. We visited St. James Cemetery while there, viewing an American's gravesite that the Count has taken responsibility for. Four thousand American WW2 soldiers in this cemetery that few Americans visit.

Oh, I second what Iris said. We stayed at the Chateau de Bouceel in 2007. It was a definite highlight of our trip!
