Lodgings in Kiev (Kyiv), Ukraine..any recommendations would be appreciated.

Heading for Russia, Belarus and Ukraine for the month of October ('08). The only hole in the sched as of now are lodgings in Kiev.

Plenty of stuff in guide books and on the internet, but I would like to get some personal Fodorite recommendations for places you have actually stayed.

We currently plan to be in the city for five nights. Want to stay under $200, and that would probably mean a b and b or a studio apartment according to what I have come across thus far. Prefer to be in Central district...

Thank you, for any help you can be.

Many years ago, I stayed at the Presidents Kyiv Hotel (#23 on map below) for about $140/nt. Now I see they want over $600/nt, and many of the hotels are (over)charging in that price range.

I think you could find a much better deal by renting an apartment, even for one night. I used the below a few years back (their office is in Atlanta, GA).

Thanks for your response. What you write about lodgings in Kiev is so right on. When a Hyatt gets $800 and a Radisson asks for $500, there is a looming budget reality problem!!

I finally found an 11-room apartment hotel in the central district...I'll report on it when I return.

Kiev Apartments, alternative accommodation to over-priced Kiev hotel rooms providing comfort, space, privacy and flexible service for business and vacation travellers along with reasonable prices. Our short-stay apartments for rent are new, serviced, renovated in European style and located right near central street Kreshchatyk or central square of Kiev (Kyiv). Here is the website http://accommodation.kiev.ua

tower, did you write a trip report about Kiev? I'll be in Kiev later this year, and it is difficult to get up to date information about Kiev since it is one of the less visited places. Any advice you can provide will be appreciated.

No, I don't do TR's ...I'm happy to share my pics, and to answer any and all questions to the best of my ability. Let's start with my Kiev pix (also a few from Belarus leading into Kiev). Just pop me a letter with any questions and I'll send answers immediately. Kiev is trying very hard to become world class, and on some levels, it is succeeding..still a way to go.
