Lodging near CDG
We will be returning a rental car to CDG at 8 AM before our flight home to the US. Can anyone recommend a place to stay the night before that is not too expensive but reasonably close to the airport?
Thanks! |
We just spent the night at the Hilton at the airport. We got a dinner bed and breakfast package which was from memory around $250 aussise dollars. It was very convenient and the dinner was good as was the breakfast, both buffets. I cannot remember the exact price but it could be worth checking out. The fact that breakfast and dinner were included made it very reasonable and you couldn't beat the location! Also it was very quiet, you would never have thought you were at the airport.

I think Schnauzer is referring to the Sheraton CDG which is right in the international terminal (outside of security).

We stayed at the Akena Hotel in St. Witz, 10 km. north of CDG. Nothing fancy. 42€ for an Internet reservation. There are French versions of fast food restaurants across the street--we ate at Buffalo Grill, which was not bad.
What we did is come up east of Paris. We had overnighted in Sens and then drove to Provins to visit that town. Then we had lunch with friends near Coulommiers and reached St. Witz in the evening (make sure you print out a map to get there). AFter a full day we were not interested in more than a place to eat and stay. There is a Leclerc about 10km. west of there where you can top your gas tank. |
I forgot to add: we dropped off the car the day of our departure.

As mentioned above, there's the Hilton and the Sheraton, both located right at CDG. (Glad to see Schnauzer's good review of the Hilton -- we're using points to stay there for a one-night layover ourselves in several weeks!)
TripAdvisor would be a good place to start for researching other lodging options in the Roissy/airport area. |
While the Sheraton is in Terminal 2, the Ibis, Novotel, and Pullman are located along the CDGVAl offering free rail transportation. You can connect from hotel to any terminal within minutes.

I too have stayed twice at the Hilton at CDG in transit, and found it very convenient. The food at the lobby restaurant, especially the very fresh salad bar, was very good.

We always do Ibis-there are 3 for CDG- because of their low rates but adequate quality. If you can get the "terminal" Ibis, that is right at the airport and we return the car immediately upon arrival, even if it's the night before our flight.
The next closest is at the Belle Etoile address and we like that one because it has a Courtepaille and other eateries, but we keep the car until the morning because we have seen the am shuttle be extremely crowded and/or not be able to take the number of passengers waiting. It's also easier to keep the car until am if you have several bags. The 3rd, and furthest from the airport, is at Villepinte and appears to be in "lock-down" mode there is so much security around it; we did not like the look and have never stayed here. Ibis is very basic with minimalist rooms/bathrooms but has some great specials that work for us. |
