lodging in paris, normany and loire valley
Hi,
Have checked the previous posts and seen some recommendations for lodging but would like any new ideas for our trip in August. My wife and I are looking for economical lodging of any type in these areas.
Thanks, Jeff

Hi, what's "economical" to you...?
We stayed in Amboise at le Manoir les Minimes for about 115€, and at Hotel Diderot for around 60€. Both have an inner courtyard where you can park (limited spaces) and a good breakfast (at an extra cost). Both were very central to sightseeing in town, and very easy to reach by car, especially Minimes. I would return to either of them on future visits.

Check out http://www.gites-de-france.fr/eng/ (click on "select a destination in France" to find the appropriate region).
We've stayed in some wonderful inexpensive places listed there.

In Amboise we stayed at Le Clos d'Amboise, which was gorgeous, and except for lacking views of the river, seemed every bit as nice as Le Manoir les Minimes, but a good bit cheaper. I wrote a bit about it in my trip report at: http://fodors.com/forums/threadselec...p;tid=34622843
Also, I forgot to mention in that report that Clos d'Amboise does offer an Internet connection in your room for 5 euro extra per night, just in case that's something you care about.
The same report also includes a bit about the hotel where we stayed in Paris (Residence Monge), which was also quite economical, and comfortable.
