Lodging In or Near Cochem

Planning a trip to Germany the beginning of Oct 2011. I've found that the nights we are planning at the Rhine and Mosel are very busy and some places are booked (wine festival and holiday.) So thought I would reserve rooms now. Have one night (Fri, Sep 30) in Adenau as my husband must drive the Nurburgring (Sat am - if the track is open.) The next two nights (Oct 1 and 2) I have booked in St. Goar, Rheinhotel. Am trying to decide for Oct 3 and 4. Would like Cochem, but haven't found the right place. Have considered Klotten nearby, Hotel Hubertus, but a little concern about being near the train tracks...not sure if that is a valid concern or not. Not overly sensitive to noise, but not sure if the trains are loud and run all night. If anyone can help me with ideas, I would appreciate it. I've also considered staying across the river from Cochem, but it just doesn't seem as quaint. We will have a rental car. On Oct 5th we drive to the Bamberg area to spend 5 nights with my husband's family. Thanks for any feedback or ideas.

I should have added, would like to stay for 90 euros or less per night for the two of us.

We stayed at Pension Hendriks several years ago. Not a full service hotel, but in a quiet location above the town. On street parking with a short walk to the center. Comfortable clean rooms with an ample German breakfast. It's also within your price range. Here's a link;

Hi,

We enjoyed our stay a few minutes across the river from Cochem at the Hotel/Weinhaus Rebenhof in Valwig. Quiet location, very good buffet breakfast and the owner, Cecilia, was very friendly. She speaks a little English. If we ever get back to the Mosel area, we would stay there again.

You shouldn't have much trouble booking on October 3 & 4, a Monday and Tuesday. Ben's picks should keep you in that budget range. Stay near the old town center, in a place like Haus Andreas, and you shouldn't be bothered by trains, which pass through an underground tunnel behind the town.

Just a heads up: be aware Oct 3 is a Holiday.

Thanks everyone! Yes, we knew Monday was a holiday which is one reason we're looking to reserve now.

A wonderful little hotel and restaurant on the river in Beilstein, just a short drive from Cochem: Hotel Haus Lipmann.
