Lodging in Galway
I am looking for lodging recommendations in Galway. I'm planning on spending 2 nights in Galway as a good base to do daytrips to the Buren, Doolin, Cliffs of Mohr, and Connemara. I would like to stay in a Galway hotel so that at night I have a wide option of restaurants, pubs, etc., that I can walk to. It doesn't have to be in the middle of downtown, just within a reasonable walking distance.

I'd recommend the Jury's hotel w/ a restaurant and bar on premises and pubs within stumbling distance!

There are a host of B&Bs on College road...depending on where the B&B is on the street, it is a 5-10 minute walk to Eyre Square.

Ardawn House (where I stayed) and Petra House come to mind.

Agreed on Jury's Galway. Not the most charming hotel in the world, but clean, and more-than-good-enough (and reasonibly priced). Mostly, though, its location is the best in town for the pedestrian street and all of the shops, restaurants and pubs.

We stayed at the Hotel Spanish Arch in Galway. Just a few doors down from Jury's which others have suggested. The Spanish Arch IS charming and located right in the middle of downtown. We were delighted with it.

Does anyone have insights into the Radisson SAS hotel in Galway? I like the idea of a relatively new hotel near the center of town....does this fill the bill?

gr8travels,

As an alternative to a hotel, why not consider getting closer to the ground and stay at a distinctive and well run B & B, one that is located a mere 15 minutes to downtown Galway? It's called Norman Villa.

Norman Villa is located in Lower Salthill, right next door to a pub and close to several restaurants. The accommodation features six rooms, is very easy on the eye, and costs about euro 50 per person single.

You can learn more at www.normanvilla.com

Best of luck.

David D - Re: the location in Salthill -it's too far away from the original requestor's query for a location in Galway. Good suggestion, nonetheless.

We are staying at a B&B on Mary Street in May. From the address, it looks to be about two to three blocks from Eyre Square.
I can give you the name "The Grange" but cannot give a review until we return.

Ditto Jury's. Would stay there next time in Galway.....right in the heart of the action. Stayed in a Salthill B&B, loved it, BUT should have stayed at Jury's. Judy
