Lodging in Florence
I am traveling with 3 other people in Italy, and will be in Florence From April 1-4, and we are having a bit of a problem finding decent lodging. We are looking to get 2 double rooms and keeping to a budget of around 80 Euro a night; we of course are not expecting the Westin. We just need simple, basic, comfortable, clean lodging. After reviewing several options on TripAdvisor, there are several bad comments about most Bed and Breakfast/Pensions I have looked into; either being with shady or management, lots of noise, or dirty conditions. I would love it if you all would share your positive and inexpensive lodging experiences in Florence!

Hi AC,
>We just need simple, basic, comfortable, clean lodging. < I can highly recommend http://www.florenceby.com/peterson/pages/profile.htm ((i)) |
I don't know about 80 Euros/night, but try the Relais Cavalcanti. Great little hotel, fantastic location in the midst of Florence.

We enjoyed this hotel and found the prices very good, maybe it's in you price range.

I paid 60€ for a single in September at Alloro B&B. I got a better rate by e-mailing (they day before) than was on their website. It's very convenient (between the train station and the duomo) and my room faced a side street that had very little traffic and was quiet.

Here's a few more apartment options for 4 people. I have stayed here before and the location can't be beat. Plus you can save money with being able to eat breakfast or other meals in on occassion. Not to mention have more space to spread out.

This hotel is nice, I have stayed here a few times, very friendly staff, very clean, family owned, centrally located, inexpensive.

Thanks for all of your replies!
The Bed and Breakfast Peterson doesn't have the type of rooms left that we need, which is sad because it looks lovely! The Alloro looks perfect and I'm waiting for a response to the email I sent them about rates; they are about $15 a night over my budget and I am hoping they will work with me. I'm continuing to plug away at this!!! Thanks! |
You might try Hotel Casci, a very popular place on this board and others. I have stayed there FIVE times, I love it obviously. It is a small family-run 25 room hotel, in the midst of everything and the best selling point, along with a marvelous breakfast, very clean but not fancy rooms, are the people who own and run it. Nothing is too much for them. They are fabulous. During your time period, it may still be off season and their rates may suit your budget.
Good luck. |
I finally stumbled upon what I hope will be the perfect accomodations: The Lanterna Fiorentina! It's a small B&B in a decent location for under our budget, the reviews are good, it looks clean and well kept, and the owner has been very nice during our exchange of emails.
http://www.lanternafiorentina.it/index.eng.html I will report back upon my return! |
That's a good distance from the center. I think you can find something closer for the same price.
|
kybourbon,
Did you look at the map on the website for Lanterna Fiornentina? It's quite a good location, not many steps from the Accademia or the Duomo, or the Museo San Marco. I am surprised you think it is not in the center. |
touist house ghiberti is a very nice b & b. Good breakfast. Quiet area.
http://www.touristhouseghiberti.com/eng/01-home.html When I was there last summer there is a 10% discount for cash payment. |
The little B&B you found looks charming. Wi-fi, too, is a great find. Good luck with it and please report back.
|
zeppole - Yes, I did look at the map and the B&B is quite close to the Fortezza. Not where I would want to stay and much farther out than most people reccommend.
|
As far as location is concerned, I think we'll be quite okay with it. I'm young, healthy, and live in DC with no car. I'm also fairly skilled at catching a bus or hailing a cab ;) If and when absolutely necessary. :D

acs-- I guess the point the previous poster(s) is trying to make is that there has to be a number of clean, cheap lodging options much closer and convenient. Overall is not a horrible choice, but I really thing you ought to keep looking. Just a thought.
