Lodging in Bellagio??

Has anyone stayed in Hotel Florence in Bellagio? Looks lovely from Fodor's web page referral...
Can Bellagio be reached easily by driving from Malpensa (without any ferry transfers)?
Also, does anyone have any hotel recommendations from Bellagio?
Thank you for any suggestions

We stayed at the Hotel Florence early September of this year. We had a "suite" that was actually two ajoining rooms. Spectacular views of the lake. Wonderful service. IMO a gem of a hotel. If you click on my name and scroll down, I have a trip report titled "Italy trip report, it's going to be long!. All the info on our stay at the Florence is there.

Hello, great information on Hotel Florence. Did you call to make your reservations or do it via internet?
Also, were you disappointed that the junior suite was actually two ajoining rooms or pleasantly surprised?
Thanks again, and i will continue my read of your review

marisal -- we have stayed at the Hotel Florence twice. The trick is too request a room on one of the upper floors, with the lake views. Otherwise you may end up with a room with a terrace that is shared, therefore, not the least bit private. Forget about leaving your curtains open to enjoy the view!

But, all in all, a very nice hotel.

Marisal-

I did all my reservations via the internet. Hotel Florence was very quick to reply to any and all e-mails.
I was very pleased that we ended up adjoining rooms as we were traveling with our 11 year old son! I would not hesitate to book a room there again.

Also,what does 'half-board' and 'full-board' refer to?

We also made our reservations online. It went without a hitch.

We stayed in a double room with lake views. As I mentioned our first stay was in a room on the upper floor. It had 2 windows that looked out over the lake. It was large and airy -- beautiful.

Full-board means that you take all of your meals in the hotel. The food there is good, but I'm not sure you want to lock yourself into that sort of arrangement. There are other nice restaurants in town.
