Lodging help
We are a family of four that will be in London for about 5-6 days in late June. Would anyone have any recommendations for "family friendly" hotels or apartment services? We would like to be close to a tube stop, but away from noise and congestion. My husband and I have been there before, but without the children. We would appreciate any help you can provide us.

When we were in London last year with 3 of us we stayed at Scala House. This is a building of 2 bedroom apartments that can be rented on a daily basis. The rates are slightly better for a week than the 5 day rate. I can't remember the exact price, but it was less than 2 hotel rooms were going to cost. We were within 2 blocks of a tube stop, and close to many restaurants. We requested an upper floor, and so the apartment was relatively quiet. I liked it a lot. It wasn't pretty, but it was clean and functional. The staff was very helpful. They have a web site, I think its www.scalahouse.com.

Carol,
Check out the London Guards Hotel at 36-37 Lancaster Gate, Bayswater. The hotel has six family rooms that can accommodate all for of you. Go to:
www.infotel.co.uk/query and search for "London Guards". You'll find photos, a map indicating the hotel's location, rates and and Email address.
Those families to whom I've recommended the Guards in the past hae come back to me with favorable comments.

Thanks for your suggestions. I will follow up on both of them. They sound like a good fit for our family needs.
Wes, thanks for the input on London Guards Hotel. We have reservations there in May. It sounded pretty good but it's good to hear from someone that has stayed there. Are the rooms large - we will have 3 adults in our party. Please describe it in a little more detail. Thanks. Looking forward to hearing from you.
