lodging for young travelers
Does anybody have any suggestions for lodging for young travelers in Avignon/Aix-en-Provence, or any other cities in Provence? I will be in Provence from about may 29 through june 1. I haven't decided where to stay. I'm a student traveling, so a hostel or something cheap would be preferred. Any suggestions? Thanks!

There are lots of hostels down in that area, the best source I know of is, hostel section, of course. You can look by town and it gives you names and addresses; you can even reserve for some.

I haven't stayed in one, but I've heard the Princess Stephanie hostel in Monaco is pretty nice, and the one in Cap d'Ail (Villa something) is really nice, that's right near Monaco. Aix only has one which is kind of far out from city center (Jouffran area?), and Avignon only has one listed on there, also. For those cities, a cheap hotel would probably be better. Hotels are a lot cheaper down there than in Paris, etc, so you can afford 1-2 star hotels, probably. That same web site has hotels, by star ratings, check those out.

In Avignon, the Hotel Mignon
is a 1-star at only US$30-40, as I recall. Someone on Fodors stayed there recently and said it was great. I'd guess Nice has some hostels, and definitely cheap hotels.
