We did the Etap on Rue Dr. Babinski a month ago. Insuite bath, 44 euro per night, per room, not per person. It was a 5 or 6 block walk to the bus, no. 81, or 7 or 8 blocks to the subway. Walk was not bad and I use crutches and a brace. There are a lot of restaurants in the subway area. Really good, cheap food. Just took my time. Bus 81 goes by the Louve' and several good tourist areas. Bad part is that it stops running around 8:00pm. However, you can take the subway home. There is an Etap closer into Paris, but I am not sure about its prices. There is also several Ibis's in Paris. They are decent places also, but cost more.

Buy a carte de orange to go out and about in Paris. It is the cheapest way to go. It works on the bus, subway and trains. Take a copy of passport picture to put on the card. You must buy it on Sun-Wed for the week you want it. It is good from each Mon. to following Sunday.

Hi Christina,

Yes, unfortunately, the metro runs above grounds there. That's why it was so noisy...

We stayed in Paris at a great place for only 20 something dollars a night.

They have rentals there, so I would check that out as it is a great place to stay and transportation is easy. Fabulous park and nice country feeling while a speedy metro away from everything.

I do not know the costs of the cottage or trailer rentals, but it is probably one of the nicest cheap places to stay in Paris and is extremely safe. The bathrooms are not new, but they are heated and it is a fab place for kids ( right in park).

I actually had more fun here and a better sense of Paris than when I stayed at the George V years ago with a French speaking beau.

Just a thought for those looking for a bargain. These rental bungalow things are all over Europe and I wonder why more Americans do not take advantage of them or camping like the Europeans do...ESPECIALLY as the dollar continues to tank.
