Locker in Heidelberg Bahnhof

Hi, anyone knows whether there are lockers at Heidelberg's rail station for luggage storage? Thanks.

Daniel

Yes, there are - in the passage that crosses over the tracks (I used them about 4 weeks ago.) The new ones use a code system rather than a key - easy to use.

Russ, that's great! As always, thank you very much!!

How quick can Heidelburg be done in a hurry without walking up to the castle? We wish to pay the town a short visit en route to Wurzburg from Strasbourg.

And we also plan to do day trip from Strasbourg to Baden-Baden (it's a half-hour trip by train). Any place around Baden-Baden worth a quick visit? Thanks.

Daniel

The old town area is maybe 30 minutes from the station on foot in the direction of the castle - it lies essentially at the foot of hill upon which the castle is situated, a couple of blocks from the river. If you exit the FRONT of the station, where the tourist info kiosk is, and head straight out, you're headed the right way. You could also make a left at the TI, roughly, and head to the river, then turn right and follow the river until you approach the castle/oldtown. You could also take a bus or taxi from the station to the old town area and then walk back if you have time. I'd say 2-2.5 hours is fine if you'd just like a short look-around and maybe a cup of coffee.

The Tourist Information Centre in Heidelberg ( which is just at the station's exit ) has a cheap map of Heidelberg which you should buy. They can also tell you how to get to the Old town by bus or streetcar ( which I'd recommend because it safes you time, and the walk is not terribly interesting ). I wouldn't skip the castles, but you don't have to walk up since there is a funicular.

Regards, Jochen
