Locations in Paris

I'm travelling to Paris in May of 2007 with a friend. It will be the first trip for us both and we are thinking of staying in the St-Germain-des Pres/Latin Quarter or the Tuileries Quarter. We want to sight-see by day and be able to walk or take a short subway ride to some fabulous cafe's at night, maybe listen to some music. Love to hear your advice

Hi L,

On what topic(s) do you seek advice?

Hi, Of the two locations I listed, which one has the most walkable cafe's shops, music venues, for the evening.

Thanks,
Lisa

You cannot go wrong in that area. I stayed for seven nights in the Latin Quarter (Rue Cherche Midi) 6th Addronisment. We thought it was the loveliest area and so central to all sightseeing. It was clean, lovely buildings with so much to see and only a nice 15 minute walk to Notre Dame . Look for apartments in that area if you are staying for some time. They are an experience to live in even if it is for a short time. You really get the feel of Paris. You are very close to Babylone Metro and one other which name I cannot recall at this moment.

All of those locations are very central and have easy access by metro to the things you seek. What kind of music are you looking for? I would say that the Tuileries area would have less what you are looking for within a short walk of your hotel, but you could easily get elsewhere by metro.

Hi L,

I don't think that the area around the Tuileries has what you are looking for.
