Location in France of Movie Chocolat??
 

Does anyone know where Chocolat was filmed? I was not quick enough to read and remember the location. Thank you.

Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, not far from Dijon, apparently. While it may appear that the location ressembles the Dordogne (and it has been said that some river scenes were filmed there), this is in Burgundy. <BR> <BR>More on this on other threads here. <BR> <BR>Best wishes, <BR> <BR>Rex <BR>

I believe it was Flavigny-sur-Ozerain.

The river scenes were filmed in and near Beynac, in the Dordogne. The bulk of the film was shot in Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, in Burgundy.

And if the search function worked better, you could get an even quicker answer as this same thread was discussed at length a month or so ago, but I tried to bring it up once and couldn't find it at all! That house just couldn't have been in Burgundy. &gt; <BR> <BR> <BR>No, as was discussed in that previous thread, the architecture of the Dordogne and that of Burgundy are, as in all of France, extremely different, and if one looked closely one could tell which scenes were filmed where. The night-time dinner party was filmed at a house in Beynac. It's classic Dordogne architecture - interior and exterior. Funny how radically different the architecture was between the two locationsand how sure the director must have been that audiences wouldn't notice these kinds of details. <BR>

I agree totally. Oddly enough I saw the movie the day after the first post about this subject appeared here. I went with the understanding that it was all filmed in Burgundy, but was so distracted by those scenes especially the birthday party, that I could hardly enjoy the movie. I just kept thinking, "those Fodorites must be totally wrong". I watched through the entire credits and saw the credit for Beynac and then knew that I was right. Of course, by the time I got back to this site, someone else had already revealed that some of the scenes were indeed filmed in the Dordogne, so I didn't get my chance to gloat! And to St. Cirq, yes, isn't it funny that a director can go to such great detail and then "screw up" on a point like that. Did he really think that no one would know the difference? Sort of like watching a movie where two people are walking out of St. Peter's in Rome and within one minute of their conversation you see the Colliseum or the Spanish Steps in the background. Either they're very fast walkers, or somebody's been rearranging Rome!

So now we have two threads - - all about this ONE movie - - discussing the same thing. Isn't this a perfect example of how we NEED "click-on" timestamps? Patrick, surely you must see how it would be valuable to reference one thread inside another. Actually, Rex, I have written, basically copying your message, but I've never heard anything. I've contacted the editors four or five times, twice specifically asking for replies to problems and questions, and once with a polite complaint about one of the hosted forums which I thought was the poorest example of "helpful" information ever given by an "expert". I have never received a reply from the editors. And how did you ever find that old post? I tried searches every way I could think of, and it never came up.

This is an untested theory, Patrick (in fact I know it doesn't REALLY work - - but it does seem to help improve search results) - - and I only started testing it a few days ago. <BR> <BR>When you do a search, highlight EVERY country in the box that says "hold control key to click more than one". <BR> <BR>I think MAYBE, maybe - - this imcreases search performance. But it still doesn't work well nor predictably. <BR> <BR>And thanks for writing, even if they never did respond. <BR>
