Locanda Barbarigo - rooms
 

After reading some good reviews here of Locanda Barbarigo, I inquired about a room for 4 nights in September.<BR><BR>The only one they have available is the Giulietta. Has anyone seen or stayed in this room? It seems to be a smaller one, doesn't have a canal view. <BR><BR>Our other option is to spend $100 more at Hotel Flora's new sister hotel, Locando Novecento. Which looks amazing, but who knows?

I will be staying ther in September so I have not seen the room but there is a pictue on their web site and they tell you it is an internal room -- not a view of the canal.

Yeah, I've seen the picture on the site. It looks nice, even though it doesn't have the canal view. But I'm just wondering if there's some reason why it's the only room left (extremely small, bad location, noise, something like that)

Keri<BR>You can't assume that it's "left over" because it's a bad room. Everyone else might have booked singles, or canal-view rooms, or rooms with tubs rather than showers, etc.<BR><BR>You might want to ask the Locanda the question as to how the Giulietta compares to the rest of the rooms(larger vs smaller, view vs no view,<BR>noisier vs quieter, near the noisy kitchen vs further away, etc) and the bathroom arrangement as well.

I don't think it is necessarily the last is the worst because in my case the esmerelda room was the only one they had for my stay. It can also be days -- who's checking in and out while you are there -- perhaps other rooms are available every day but one so that is why you have been given this option.

Hi Keri,<BR><BR>I stayed at Locanda Barbarigo in April, and was one of the first fodorites to report on this gem - it sounds like their bookings have gone thru the roof! <BR><BR>I saw all of the rooms on the main floor (the breakfast area) and they were all very nice. I did not see the rooms on the floor above, but if they were renovated at the same time, then they should be quite nice. I suggest that you email them and ask if they are the same quality. The canal that it looks onto is a narrow canal, not the main canal, so you actually have to look out of your window and below to see the canal, except for the green room. <BR><BR>I would suggest reviewing my travelogue that I posted on fodors.com to help you out. You can find it by typing in "kiki" into the search box. I posted lots of tips on using the vaparettos, going to Murano, restaurants, theatres, sightseeing, museums, etc.<BR><BR>Have a great trip!

I stayed in the Colombina room last week. It also does not have a canal room, but it was beautiful. Even better than it looked on the web site. The entire hotel was decorated beautifully, I can't beleive this room would be any different. ONe minor negative was no elevator. Dragging my sleeping 2 year old up the steps each evening was not a highlight. But I'm glad I didn't know in advance, because I wouldn't have booked here, and missed a gem. I would inquire about its location, and if its not a problem, I would definitly book it. I booked this hotel based on KiKi's trip report THANKS. Hopefully when I return their rates will not be outrageous.

Keri,<BR> I stayed at the Locanda Barbarigo and was able to get a look at the Giulietta room. The picture on their website shows that it is a very lovely room and that it is. I did not like the idea of having to climb an additional stairway off the little kitchen and then having to walk through an open adjoining room that had a couple of twin beds before getting to the door of the room. Of course if you were to rent that room and it was only for two people then I would imagine the twin room would not be rented, thus making it a very private suite of sorts. You would have to make your decision on if you would want to be up the stairs and kind of away from things. It would be a very private room.

We stayed in that room for 1 night because the Rosaurio room was not available for that night but it would be available the next morning. The small room attached is not rented if you are staying in the main room. It would be used for a child if you had one with you.<BR><BR>About that room. The child's room has a very low ceiling. The shower in the bathroom is one of the coffin variety. There are definitely extra stairs to walk up, and there is no guarantee that someone will be available to help you with your bags.<BR><BR>The room is very clean. The location is very good. The staff is very helpful. The a/c works great. Just wanted you to have all the facts before you made your decision. Would we stay in that room for more than a few hours again? There are so many other locations we have not tried-probably not! We would probably opt for another area of Venice just because.<BR><BR>Good luck in deciding.<BR><BR>Debby<BR>
