Sheila. I am kind of perplexed. Exactly what more do you want to know?
And of course my posting brings this to the top.

lobo_mau Jun 16th, 2010 01:27 PM

I think I heard Red Riding Hood calling for me...

sheila Jun 16th, 2010 10:39 PM

I'm being a bad person, Sher. It is very infra dig to ask one person a question on here, but Lobo Mau lives and works in Lisbon, and used to be very, but is now less, active on here.

Plus he's a friend of a friend.

I was hoping to attract his attention. I think I did...

Sher Jun 17th, 2010 03:34 AM

Glad you did, Sheila. But he posts quite often on almost anything pertaining to Lisbon.
Is the wedding you were to attend over and how did it turn out?

lobo_mau Jun 17th, 2010 05:33 AM

Ah bon,
that changes everything, since the friends of my friends are my friends too. I'll give you a free pass to cross my forest without trouble

sheila Jun 17th, 2010 08:04 AM

:)

(Nikki?)

lobo_mau Jun 17th, 2010 08:06 AM

Dear Sheila
I'm issuing your free pass to my forest, but I have millions of good informations to write in it.
Could you possibly narrow down the dates of your available days, in such a way I can filter whatever is unnecessary?
Or maybe you can ask our common friend my email address and I'll be happy to answer in a more comprehensive way.
Much obliged
Le méchant loup

Lobo, mo ghradh, we arrive Tuesday next lunchtime- leave the following Monday also lunchtime

lobo_mau Jun 17th, 2010 09:25 AM

Sheila, mo ghradh (I don't know if "mo ghradh" has a gender variation).

I've selected this:

-----

24 June, 7pm / free
MUSEU DO FADO
Fado related instrumentals (no singing, only guitar playing)
Invited guest: Rão Kyao

26 June, 10pm / 12.5 euros (ticketline and castle’s ticket office – tel 21 880 0620)
Saint George’s castle
KÁTIA GUERREIRO & MARISA LIZ

26 June, 10pm / 8 euros
Fábrica do braço de prata – take a táxi, unless you have a car
Rua da Fábrica do material de guerra (poço do bispo)
3 musicians and a fado singer are entertaining the guests, in a kind of Jam session, where everything is allowed, including spontaneous interventions from the public.

Note: If I had to opt between the 2 last events I’d prefer the 2nd (Braço de prata), and most likely I’ll be there with loba (if she kindly accepts).

PRIDE PARADE (Gays, lesbians and so on)
26 June – Praça do Comércio/Terreiro do Paço
Opened to every souls. Free.
I don’t know when it begins, but they promise animation to the early hours of next morning.
More info: [email protected]

Photo exhibition – Lisbon and the river – photos from the last 150 years
monument to the discoveries - Belem

Interculturality festival (city of Lisbon sponsored)
25 & 26 June (8 pm to midnight) – Praça da Figueira
Handycraft, food, music, dance and theatre from the ethnic groups present in Lisbon

These events are specific for the time interval you told me.
Other events are everytime events like eating sardines in Alfama, or attending Tejo Bar, but for that you have to be in the right mood.

How to you say the big bad wolf in your language?

lobo_mau Jun 17th, 2010 09:48 AM

The events are very concentrated on 26th June. I wish they were more spread.

I think the Fado Jam session and the Pride Parade to be the more interesting and I might attend both.

The 24th June event should be good for the non-portuguese attendance, because being only instrumentals, the language barrier is not present, eventualy with a flute player emulating the human voice.

sheila Jun 18th, 2010 03:39 AM

Thank you so much. I fear the 26th is a bit taken up with the wedding, but we'll certainly take you up on some of your other suggestions.

(you say "Mo ghraidh", and I got the boy bit wrong- it's "mo gradh" My language is English, but I think I can manage in French and Italian- definitely not Gaelic)
