Lladro Figurines
I just love these things. Have a few, but always lookinjg to pick up more.
Thinking of going to spain and thought it might be interesting to go to the factory in Valencia where they are made. Any rants or raves about doing that? Are they significantly cheaper in Spain or will the taxes kill the price advantage? Is Valencia woth a visit in its own right? |
Lladro has a factory seconds store in Valencia that has great bargains if you're not obsessed over its "collectibility" value and don't mind a minor flaw such as a pinprick.

thanks for the reply. Too new to the game to be a serious collector. However, it could get addictive.

Valencia is definitely a town worth visiting in its own right!
Over the past few years, it's undergone an architectural renaissance. The new complex by the port contains an Imax Theatre, Acquarium and interactive Science museum. Just visited last year for the first time in 6 years and was amazed at the differences in the city. Also, shopping is very good there. Don't go there for the beaches, though. If you like fireworks and things that burn and go boom, the Fallas Festival (culminating March 15-19 each year) is one of the best celebrations in the world. I have purchased Lladro Figures 6 years ago at the factory outlet. There was quite a nice selection at huge discounts (something like 50-60 USD at the time for an avg sized figure). |
I'm not positive, but I believe the price of "non-second" Lladros is fixed and is the same everywhere.
