lladro
Where is the best place to purchase lladro in or around Madrid?
|
There's an official Lladro store in Madrid on the Castellano, look up the l website. You can shop around the Puerta del Sol,go to El Corte Ingles department store, pop in there and out up the street going towards the Gran Via there are loads of little shops w/ lladro.Be careful-by the time you add the shipping-figure out what you would save in the long run!
I prefer El Corte Ingles or the official LLadro store because they handle the shipping and the VAT so smoothly.

Is it true that the Lladro company controls the prices of their products ? It appears that anywhere I went (even up north in Leon), I found the prices of several pieces I was asked to get were the same; also same as at their store in Serrano 68 street in Madrid. I also found out that at the company store, if you buy $1000 worth, shipping is free, and you don't have to pay the 16% vat.

The El Corte Ingles at Puerta del Sol did not carry Lladro; I was referred to 2 other stores in the area.

Incidentally, the rebate comes out to 10% since the company that handles the processing keeps the rest.
Yep Lladro does indeed control their prices so you see no variance. In my experience you will not save any money unless you are buying a small piece that you can carry home..if you have to ship then any small savings will be more than eaten up by shipping and insurance costs.

I have found this to be true for other products as well, one example being the china and pottery products in UK. No matter where you go the price is the same for a given product, such as Wedgwood. The only way to get a break is to visit their outlet store in Stoke on Trent, where you might be able to buy seconds or discontinued at a discount.

Most times you can buy all of this stuff cheaper at your local department store than you can in place of manufacture, plus you don't have worry of getting it home.

I think you are better off bringing back items that are hard to find here as memories of your trip.

try shoplifting the smaller pieces and you can get a real cheap price.
