Ljubljana to Vienna via train?

We are traveling from Ljubljana to Vienna in late October, and need advice regarding options. We are thinking of train- which is the best website for this? We looked at Eurail and RailEurope, but I think they are resellers?

We also looked at renting a car for the day (there are 4 of us), but it seems there is a huge drop fee. (One of our group hates flying, so that option is temporarily out.)

Thank you.

You should not buy from RailEurope. Read the section on traveling by train from Ljubljana to Vienna on seat61. Buy your tickets in Ljubljana.

We just bought tickets at the station a day or so before leaving- went from Vienna to Graz stopped off for 4 days then on to Ljubljana for a week . Great train trip

OK, so no need for buying tickets prior to the day before we travel? That does make it easier. Thank you for your help.

See: http://www.seat61.com/international-...agreb-Budapest (also Ljubljana).

I'm planning to go in the other direction later this year, but I, too, will stop off in Graz for a few nights. (Been there before, but was limping at the time.)

I saw another post that said to buy tickets via http://www.oebb.at/en/ The train is Reservations Optional. I think we prefer knowing we have a nice window seat ahead of time.

Are they also a reseller? Sounds like the prices are correct (39 Euro pp)

oebb is the Austrian Railways so you are buying right from the source.
