Ljubljana in Dec

Don't normally do this, but just booked a weekend in Ljubljana in Dec without much knowledge about it... So... Is there a Xmas Market.... where are good, moderate interesting places to stay.... do we stay in the city (only there for fri and sat nights) or get out??? Need lots of advice! p.s. we are 3 thirty year olds who dont mind a bit of an adventure! Thanks...

Well done! We do have a Christmas market and it is beautiful here during the holidays. I would stay downtown, either at the Grand Union or the Hotel Slon. These are 4 star and very well located. They would also be able to help you plan an excursion to Lake Bled for a day.
cheers,
Jan in Ljubljana

Thanks for the encouragement..... although hotel suggestions look a bit pricey for our budget.... and other recommendations?? Can spend 100 euros a night for a double! Very much looking forward to it!

City Hotel is a 3 star and in a great location as well. It has been redone on the outside but I don't know about the inside. It is always busy so that is a good sign! Here is the website: http://www.hotelturist.si/?q=/diskdo...ece7a4ac/id/12

Also, try www.slovenia-tourism.si. They will list the gostilnas which has rooms. Gostilna is a restaurant.
Cheers,
Jan

we just came back from ljubjana 2 weeks ago and stayed at a new hotel called Emonec which was 69 euros a night. It is a great location just off main square, brand new with a good breakfast and a very friendly staff. thoroughly enjoyed our 2 days there and highly recommend this hotel for the money- since hotels are quite expensive for what you get
