Liverpool flat rentals
Next year, DH and I will be spending 3-8 weeks in Liverpool while he does some research for his next book. This would be either January/February or May/June. Would Jan/Feb be less expensive than May/June? And any recommendations for flat rentals either in or around Liverpool.
Thanks. |
We stayed here a few months ago and really liked it...great location and lovely flat.

"great location and lovely flat."
Over £500 a week for a one bedroom flat in Liverpool!!!! That would almost have covered the quid a week rent on our 3 bedroom house a mile away for the whole time from my birth till I left the city 18 years later. Flats are a problem in Liverpool. There's a ton of grotty houses within a two mile radius of the centre you wouldn't touch with a bargepole, a lot of £60-£100 a night purpose built, clean, functional but slightly pokey places round the centre - and very little characterful, affordable, middle-class accommodaton for less than a 6 month lease. We try finding somewhere like that most Christmasses. We've never succeeded. So unless someone can spot what we're doing wrong, google 'Liverpool short let' and settle for variations on alihutch's place. There's not likely to be much seasonal variation in cost. These flats mostly get their business from domestic weekend tourism. Since that's heavily geared to football and stag nights, Jan/Feb's not going to be significantky cheaper than late spring. |
"houses within a two mile radius of the centre you wouldn't touch with a bargepole"
To avoid misleading you. There are also some stunning Georgian houses, many now turned to flats, round the cathedrals and Liverpool University, and wonderfully close to the centre. Most sensible people would kill their mothers to rent one. We've just never found any on the market for short (< 6 mths) lets. But if you do: grab it. |
There isn't really anything that falls between the 'holiday let' for a few days or a week or a 6 months place to live...although someone with a holiday let, might cut you a decent deal for a few weeks as they aren't going to have to turn it over every few days. We stayed in Liverpool for 2 nights so compared with a hotel it was great...and
"£60-£100 a night purpose built, clean, functional but slightly pokey places round the centre" that's what we paid and it wasn't pokey or purpose built, but was living in someone's home. |
