live Irish music in pubs

Hello,

We'll be in London in couple of weeks and would love to find a pub that features live Irish music on weekend evenings. We're staying near Camden town, but all suggestions are welcome. We're fans of Clannad, the Pogues, and the Waterboys, if that helps. Thanks!

This I got from an earlier post on finding folk music -- hope it helps!

Hi GreenDragon,

Sadly, this link no longer seems to have anything useful on it...

Check Time Out Magazine. You can buy when you arrive and it lists hundreds of gigs and venues. Their website is also good. And "Fairy Tale Of New York" is the best Christmas record ever but for his voice!

Try Filthy Mc Nasty's in Islington - it's where Shane McGowan drinks.

Also if you're in Camden - try Kilburn (nearby) which is the "Irish Capital" of England. There's millions of pubs there that have music.

Get hold of a copy of Time out and look in the listings under "folk, roots and blues". There's no shortage of places.
