Lisbon Transportation Help?
 

We just saw a show on TV where the host talked about a weekly tram pass for about 15 euros..Not sure how old show was..Do you know where you could purchase passes and current cost?

How long to trams run?

Could one walk from Alfama to Belem? Maybe i am thinking not..We are staying in Alfama..Can you suggest how to get to Belem?

Do you suggets a taxi? However would like the charm of trams when possible..

No you're not walking to belem! Just by single tickets from the tobac. I believe you can get tram tickets at the airport but I'm not sure where. If I remember correctly you can buy a ticket as you enter the tram.

Buy a 7 Colinas card and you can use it like a debit card for all Carris (trams, buses, elevadors, and I think one other means of transportation) and Metro de Lisboa trips. They have an integrated system where you only have to flash your card -- very much like Exxon Speedpass -- before you get on. They're fairly easy to buy and recharge at vending machines inside Metro stations. Carris also has a kiosk in the praca just northeast of the Baixa area, adjacent to Rossio (the praca, not the train station).

Praca do Comercio to Belem is a 30-minute tram ride. So a "walk" from Alfama to Belem will be a 60-minute schlep at best and a major hike at worst. IIRC it's about 4-5 miles from Praca do Comercio to "downtown" Belem. At least the way from Alfama to Belem is flat! :-)

I second tdls' recommendation re. sete Colinas card.

Then you can take MetroLisboa to Caís do Sodré and catch a tram from there to Belém.

I stay in the Saldanha area, so I caught the #28 Tram from Praca Saldanha, estimated when I would be in the vicinity of Belém and got off there. Fortunately, I had guessed right and just had to walk a few blocks down a hill to los Jeronimos.

I have taken a TranVia from Caís do Sodré station to Belém but the Belém station is too far from the Centro Cultural, the Discoveries Monument, etc.

If I went back, I would probably opt for a Taxi from Caís do Sodré ...
