Lisbon to Morocco

I will be travelling to Lisbon in early September for one week. I want to take a quick trip to see Morocco during that time. Does anyone have any suggestions on organized tours? I only have a brief period of time, so I would prefer to spend 1-2 nights at the most, and would prefer an organized tour, if possible. I may be interested in travelling to Faro and taking a trip to Casablanca or Marakech if that is the easiest way to arrange the trip logistically. Any suggestions on how you may have done this in the past, or how to work out the trip would be greatly appreciated!

Marrakech would probably be more interesting than Casablanca, but I can't imagine a one day trip to Morocco. If in Lisbon, why not see others places in Portugal?

We had those same ideas when were were in the Algarve region of Portugal. My wife and her Aunt has an idea to go from Faro to Morocco for a day. The reality is that Portugal isn't that close to Morocco and if intending to make that trip, you'd have to do so from Cadiz, Spain if at all. To Marrackech from Faro requires a flight of about 600 kilometers.

I think the Algarve is lovely so I might suggest you enjoy that region and save Morocco for another trip.

Love Morocco, love Portugal...I agree with Michael..you simply cannot come close to "doing" Morocco with the time you can allot. Portugal deserves your full attention. Morocco will be there tomorrow..suggest you plan a future trip there...a remarkable experience.

Don't bother going to Morocco if that's all the time you have. Marrakesh, which is far more interesting than Casablanca, is not close enough to Portugal for a 1- or 2-day trip. Wait until you have at least a week.

Really, that's a crazy idea. Both countries repay far more time. However, if you insist, TAP will fly you to Morocco out of Lisbon. I see no reason whatsoever for an organized tour for so short a time, even assuming you could find one. Perhaps you mean you'd like a guide? A good guidebook would work better. I would vote for Fez as the best town to visit in Morocco, but if you fly you'll have to settle for Marrakesh.

I would like to do this same thing. I only have 8-9 days in Europe - near Lisbon. If I don't make it to Morocco this round I may never go. My over the pond travel is limited. Would you take the 2-3 days to get to Marrakesh for a taste? Or stay in Portugal? Provided this is your last trip before you die.
Secondly if only 2 days there would you find tours? wander? hire a private guide? How safe is this location - say your a single female?
Thanks!

One week is not enough to see both countries. However, if you wish to head to Morocco, your choice should definitely be Marrakech. I actually took a Lisbon-Casablanca flight once, but hated the small Royal Air Maroc plane that felt more like a helicopter. I believe there are now Lisbon-Marrakech flights on another airline (perhaps TAP Portugal).

Still, I'd stick to just Lisbon on that week. There is so much to see there. Don't miss Sintra, perhaps a daytrip to Obidos, there's also the possibility to see Evora, and spend a day by the sea in Cascais and Estoril.
And Lisbon in September is usually perfect weatherwise!
