Lisbon sightseeing driver/guide
We are a couple looking for a driver/guide, or a guide with a driver to show us the major sights of Lisbon that can be reasonably covered in one day, during the first week in September. Any recommendation with contact information and approximate fee is geatly appreciated. Should speak reasonably fluent English or German.

There are several Tour Bus Companies that do Lisbon tours; but from what I saw on several 'on our own' tours to Belém, they list a number of attractions that are all within a 500m or so radius (Discoveries Monument, Torre de Belém, Jeronimos Monastery, Centro Cultural de Belém, Maritime Museum, and more). They park their Tour Buses in front of los Jeronimos and take you on a tour that you could easily do on your own, walking. You could make your way by MetroLisboa to Caís do Sodré Station-stop and take a cab from there to Belém.
If you're anywhere near Saldanha, you can take the #28 Bus for a nice loop up thru the Barrios Altos. |
I have no personal experience with these references, by one of my guide books mentions these:
Guides Union: 213-467-170 Claudia da Costa: [email protected] Cristina Quental: [email protected] Inside Lisbon Tours Hope this helps. |
Another option is Tours For You (www.toursforyour.pt) We used them for a private full-day tour to Evora and a half-day tour to Sintra and Cascais. We had no problem with either guide's command of the English language. Both guides were very knowledgeable and personable, and especially for the full-day tour, our guide was very quick to pick up on what kind of things we would like to do.
We didn't use a guide in Lisbon because it really is easy enough to do on your own. But if you have limited time and want to see as much as possible as efficiently as possible, I can see where a guide would be useful. |
