Lisbon - Leather goods

Leaving for Portugal in 5(!) days, I'm wondering if any of the Lisbon experts know a good shop or shops to purchase women's leather gloves and/or leather jacket. Thanks!

Thanks Sher, let's push this up one more time, hoping Matt and/or Lobo can help...

Carolyn, if you can wait a couple of hours until I leave the office, I will get you the name of the best glove store in Lisbon. My boss bought me a beautiful pair of gloves in Lisbon a few years ago. I still have the box they came in at home.

I would like to know also since we will be there in October.

But we also have a chance to go to a factory which is on the road between Cartaxo and Santarem, I believe.

But it would be nice to also know the name of a store.

Good luck. Have a great trip. Write a trip report, please.

Thank you, I plan to write a trip report. We will be in Cascais, Lagos and Lisbon (staying at Paulo's apartment). I'm getting excited, we leave in four days!
Handmaiden, I'd appreciate the name of the store if you can find it.

The shop is called Luvaria Ulisses. I was waiting for my boss to call me from London this morning so I could ask if he remembered where it was. He thinks that it is behind Elevator Santa Justa, go up the little hill and turn to the left. If you keep walking up that street, you will eventually run into the clothing store Zara on rua Garret.

I looked at a map and the street that the glove shop should be on is rua do Carmo.

Hope this helps.

Nice boss.

carolynf. We are staying at the apartment also.

Sher: I know, I read on the big Lisbon thread that you would be staying there - but not until Oct, correct? I'll let you know how it is in about 2 weeks :)

And by the way thank you handmaiden, I'll try to check out the store when I'm there.

May I ask if you are paying the balance of the apartment when you arrive. I paid the deposit using Paypal. But since the exchange rate is so awful I would like to put it off as long as possible hoping it will change before the middle of Oct.

carolynf Aug 23rd, 2006 11:05 AM

I also paid the deposit on paypal and we are paying the balance when we get there. Apparently Paulo has a woman who helps him out, we are supposed to call her before we arrive and she will meet us there, give us the keys and show us around the apartment. We are going to pay her in cash.

Sher Aug 23rd, 2006 11:09 AM

Thank you , Carolyn. I think that is what I will do too.
Maybe the exchange rate will come down and less the Paypal cost it will make about $20 or more difference. It isn't a lot, but we would be willing to pay in cash upon arrival.
I will write Paulo. He usually is very prompt in answering.
Have a great trip. Are you counting the minutes until you leave?

carolynf Aug 24th, 2006 06:32 AM

More like counting the hours, not down to the minutes yet :)
Just trying to finish everything up at work today and tomorrow so I don't have anything hanging over my head when I leave.
BTW, its 58 hours (well, actually 54 hours since I start counting it as vacation when we leave for the airport)!
