Lisbon in February? Family trip

Hi,

We're probably going to spend 1week in February in Lisbon, and would like to get some info.

1) what's the weather like, is it going to be wet around that time of the year?
(I get mixed/conflicting data on various weather/climate websites, so appreciate actual
comments from the locals/someone who's been there in winter).

2) we have primary school age children--what activities/attractions can you recommend?

3) should we stay in central Lisbon or are there better places to base ourselves?
Prefer self-catering, will probably have a car.

Central Lisbon is very convienient to everything. We stayed at the Aparthotel Eden which has both apartments and rooms. Perfect location.
A few things the children might enjoy:
Riding the trolleys (especially the #28 which loops thru most of the city).
A visit to Sao George castle in the Alfama district.
A visit to the Pena Palace in Sintra. This palace looks like something right out of Disney. Bundle up - it's on the top of a mountain. You can take the train to Sintra from the station right next door to the Eden.

Currently is f. cold and dry. Within one month we never know, it may rain or not. With this advance only Saint Peter knows.
Lisbon in February? Come to my birthday party :-)
Visit Oceanário (www.oceanario.pt jumbo size aquarium in Nations Park).
All sugestions of zootsi are very good.
PS: "f. cold" means "fairly cold"

I do not think that it is a good idea to have a car in Lisbon. When visit Lisbon take the tram, metro or a taxi (it is cheap). Even for day trips no need a car. To Sintra, Cascais, etc. it is very easy and cheap to go by train.

Have a nice vacation!

We had a lovely apt in a great Lisbon location. It was vrbo #136986. Enjoy!
