Lisbon hotels around airport
 

I'm wondering if anyone out there has any info on how long it takes to get to the airport from downtown Lisbon. We have an early morning flight out on a Saturday morning. The map shows the airport to be close to town but I've heard it can take as long as a half hour to go to the airport? Probably interested in hotels that may be about 10 minutes or so away. Any suggestions?

Well, in normal conditions it is about 15 minutes from the centre..but Lisbon it's a big city and traffic can get harder on rush hours. Anyway, I would stay in the city centre , maybe not in the older part of the city which is the one that if farther from the airport, but the zone around Campo Pequeno or Gulbenkian Museum will do fine.

No rush hours on a Saturday morning. By that time, Lisbonites should be sleeping.
If you wish to follow Kenderina's suggestion of Campo Pequeno area, a few options are Villa Rica, Alif, Berna, Zurique, Barcelona (10 minutes).
Another area even closer to airport (one street away) is the former expo98 (5 minutes).

We had a 6:30 am flight, picked up a taxi on Rossio at 4:30am and we were at the airport in 15 minutes.

It is surprising how easy and how close the airport is to Lisbon center.
