Lisbon hotels

Hello,

Any advice on a good, affordable hotel in a safe part of town within walking distance to main sites or good transportation? There will be two of us, first time in Lisbon, if possible we are looking for a hotel costing no more than $150 per night. Any recommendations are appreciated, thank you!

I stay 'on the cheap' at Residencial Estrela do Saldanha. It's at the top of the steps at the Duque de Avila exit of Metro Station-stop Saldanha. It's more of a Hostal than a Hotel: one of its listings describes it as a Pension. Co-owner / Manager Carlos Ferreira speaks pretty good English.

It's next door to Pasteleria Versailles, a 'golden oldie' that features some Pastries that are 'to die for.'

We found our stay at http://www.residencialflorescente.co...hp?lg=eng&op=0 very pleasant. Very central.

I have stayed at the Hotel Borges, which is a bit faded but wonderfully located in the Chiado above the landmark cafe A Brasileira. The website shows rooms for 75 euros. http://www.lisbonhotelborges.com/

I just booked flights and a hotel yesterday. I decided to get one from Estoril, less than 30 minutes train ride from Lisbon (train every 20 minutes). The place is right next to Estoril train station, and it is called Alvorada. Cost 60 € from hotels.com.

I wanted a balcony, I suffocate without one.
