Lisbon, first time, need apartment advice
 

My mom, her friend and I (32 - 59 in ages) are going to Lisbon Oct 9 - 14 (Friday - Wed).

I think we would like an apartment (at least 1 bedroom with sofa bed) with outside space to sit and have a glass of wine at night.

I have never been to Portugal and I am not sure what area of Lisbon to look in...and what websites are reliable for an apartment rental.

Or for the 5 nights is it just as affordable to stay in a hotel?

This will be our third time going to Lisbon and renting apartments.
I would start in Chiado. This area is great, especially for three women.
My suggestion would be www.travelingtolisbon.com
I must say that their customer service is outstanding. E-mail them, tell them what you are looking for and they will try very hard to find you a place. I do not work for them and do not have a personal connection. So this is not and ad.

Lots of apartments in Lisbon do not have elevators and are on high floors, so if this is a concern, you should let them know. Also, I don't think you will need A/C in Oct.
You can find a nice apartment for E95 or less.

Jamikins...in all honesty, the Hotel Turim location ain't that great. It's very close to the wonderful Gulbenkian Museum...but other than that, it's a goodly distance from the flavor of the city. I would nix it if you can get an apartment or a similar priced hotel nearer to, let's say, Praca Rossio....Chiado would be excellent, Bairro Alto, ditto.

At the Turim, unless you walk, you could be bussing, metro-ing or cabbing twice a day...with no place close to rest, change clothes, etc....and walking back after dinner, later at night is not going to appeal to you, and can be iffy.
