Lisbon and where to stay centrally with a budget

Want to stay central but am unsure as to where.....near the Santa Justa Funicular or the Gloria funicular. Which area is better? Praca dos Restauradores or Praca de Figeuroa? Want to be under $100. USD per night. Thanks

Try the Pensão Londres, but it has no AC. It is near one of the funiculars (under repairs in June) and within walking distance (10 minutes) of the elevator by the Eiffel disciple.

Thanks Michael. I don't think not having AC in November is a problem! Will check it out!

$100 USD (80 Euro) won't get you much; I stay at Residencial Estrela do Saldanha right next door to Pasteleria Versailles at the Duque de Avila exit of MetroLisboa's Saldanha station-stop

It's within walking distance (500m) of Lisbon's old (Sete rios) Central Bus station. Also a brisk walk to Entre Campos Tranvia Interchange.

You can get the #28 Bus at Plaza Saldanha, just a block away and the Metro is at your doorstep. MetroLisboa is the most inexpensive I have found!

Carlos Ferreira, co-owner/Manager speaks pretty good English and he has a website.

Just stayed at Residencial Florescente (www.residencialflorescente.com/) and highly recommend it. It was 70€ a night for a double including breakfast, was half a block from Praca dos Restauradores and five minute walk on pedestrian street to Praca de Figeuroa. Will be posting a full trip report soon but I would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat.
