Lira and Euro Exchange

I've got about 350 Lira still! Is it too late to exchange this amount for USA dollars?

Is your name Princess a nickname for Penny? I ask because, by all appearances, you seem to be pound wise (that is the English term for lire don'tcha know), penny foolish.

Never too late. Take your 350 lira to the Italian state bank. They will give you 18 euro cents which you can then exchange for about 22 US cents, less commission, at any FX office.

Ron,

Isn't it the opposite? Wouldn't she get apx 15 US Cents for her 18 Euro Cents?

ira Dec 30th, 2003 02:50 AM

Hi P,

Try selling it on eBay. You might get $1.00.

JonJon Dec 30th, 2003 02:59 AM

If she hurries she might get 15 cents for her 18Ecents...with the way the exchange rates are going it may be even less tomorrow.

Time was, an Italian bank would have given you a sweetie for it, since they had so little small change for a few years....

Save it as a souvenir and give it to your grand children. ((b))

You are right, lyb, I have the exchange rate the wrong way around. The moral is not to attempt to do currency exchanges at midnight after being up for 18 hours.
