Liquids to be allowed in hand luggage

BAA, the UK airport authority, has said that as of Nov 6th, there will be a relaxation in the restrictions on what is allowed in carry-ons on aircraft. This will include gels, toiletries and some food items. See the link below:

Sorry - of course, this is from UK airports.

Well, it's still great to hear.

Yes but these new rules are to be applied across Europe. So it puts all of Europe on a level playing field but actually represents a restriction from what was previously allowed in most of mainland Europe.

BAA is NOT the UK airports authority. No such entity exists (why would anyone need an airports authority, any more than a bookshops authority?)

BAA is a Spanish-owned company that operates some of Britain's largest airports.

Security rules concerning UK airports are made by the UK's Department for Transport. The carry-on rules coming into effect from November 6 are at http://tinyurl.com/ya5qqc.

Most of these rules are being imposed on the same day by the rest of Western Europe. But most other countries won't be introducing the 56x45x25 maximum carry on size till next March.
