Lippanzer Horses

Has anyone been to a performance of the horses in Vienna? I want to know if the morning exercises have a show or do I need to see their show performance? Also, what is the "theatre" like? If I buy a ticket I need to know where the seats are. Any advice welcome.

Lipizzaner is the correct spelling.
The performance hall is fairly small in terms of seating ca[acity, or standing as the case may be. I doubt if it is more than 2,000 total spectators. The first two rows of the seating balcony overlook the floor from a height of about 15 feet.
The remainder of the seats are really standing room.

You will have no trouble finding your seat, so knowing where it is located is of little consequence so I am not sure what the connection is between buying a seat and knowing where it is.
I could see no real difference in any of the seats, other than some of the "seats" were standing room.
As a general rule, you take what you can get. I don't recall having a choice when I bought.

The horses do not perform in a theater. It is actually a large indoor riding ring. This is surrounded on all sides by a raised seating/standing area. The first few rowns are seats - as I recall rather uncomfortable - the rest is for standing. As I recall the entire effect is white and sort of baroqueish - but this was several years ago and can't guarantee it.

As for the show - if you are intersted in horses and very high (incredible) levels of dressage performance it is not to be missed. If you are not specailly interested and are thinking of this as similar to a horse show or cavalry type performance - this is very different. It really helps to know a little about what you're watching.

The reason I was asking about seats is that I have a walking and standing problem so wanted to know what the conditions were like in the "arena" or "stadium"

I seem to remember a fair number of stairs - but this may depend on what type of seats you have. We were in the first row and there were stairs up to the seating area and then stairs up and down from one set of seating areas to another. Perhaps if you go to the web site they have specifics on ramps or elevators.

I have booked this for March.
It is Sundays only for the fullperformances, and there are also tickets sold for dress rehearsals and the exercises. n For the performance, we did not choose the seats, we have been told the seats are in a box, and that we have to collect the tickets the day before.
