Limo service from Rome airport
Still trying to find a private car service to take us from FCO to our hotel in Rome. I've contacted airportshuttle but they provide a shared van service. Any suggestions on a reasonable private car transfer?? We have a long journey from LAX via London with a 5 hour lay over in London. I'm trying to make this last part of the trip easy.

Select service/rates and then scroll down til the English part appears.

Nlingenfel Feb 3rd, 2004 01:37 PM

Try I booked a transfer with them. It looks like it takes 2 persons for 37 euro.

bookchick Feb 3rd, 2004 01:43 PM

Another vote for limoservice.rome

Very efficient, reasonably priced, and drivers are most courteous.

Buon Viaggio,

You can also ask your hotel to make the arrangement for the pick up

I have used them in the past and will use them again on my next trip in May.

The Limo service Mercedes E Class where you won't be on share with others is only 39.

Or Shuttle service is 25 euro for 1 or 2 people will share with others.

We contacted our hotel via e-mail and they had a limo meet us at the airport. The charge was 50 eur. The hotel contacted a limo to also return us to the airport for the same pric.
It was worth it as it was about 45 min from the hotel by the Pantheon.

Judi Feb 3rd, 2004 03:25 PM

We were quite happy with limoservicerome as well. They were very reliable.

jody Feb 3rd, 2004 03:32 PM

Another satisfied limoservicerome customer checking in!

kismetchimera Feb 3rd, 2004 03:34 PM

Another one for the list..I was very happy with their service..

adrienne Feb 3rd, 2004 09:18 PM

Another vote for limoservicerome. Private car, courteous, dependable service, and very easy to book.

francophile03 Feb 3rd, 2004 09:26 PM

I am not going to Rome this year but I checked the site. The rates look very good I must say. That's good to know. Thanks.

susant100 Feb 3rd, 2004 09:53 PM

Thanks for the info. I did contact my hotel and they want 60Euro as we are arriving at 21.05. Airport connection seems to be the best deal so far as I have not heard back from Thank you for all of your suggestions!

susant100 Feb 8th, 2004 08:48 AM

Thanks again for all of your suggestions. After shopping around, we are going with Airport Connection. Their rate is 39Euro including night pickup, Mercedez E Class, private car, taxes, luggage, etc.

kybourbon Feb 8th, 2004 09:02 AM

Susan - let us know how this works out as you got 9 postive responses for limo service rome and only one for airport connection. It seems a little cheaper so when you get back maybe you could add your experience to this post. Thanks!

ecat Feb 8th, 2004 09:10 AM

Susan, I think you'll be happy with them. I know I always felt very shi shi being picked up in a shiny benz and believe me it's not my usual mode of transportaion.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!

robbiegirl Feb 8th, 2004 10:02 AM

How far in advance is it advisable to reserve ?

susant100 Feb 8th, 2004 10:39 AM

I certainly will let you all know how it goes. I was going to book with Limo Service Rome as there were so many positive responses, but Airport Connection was very professional in their response so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully I made the right decision based on cost.

susant100 May 21st, 2004 08:04 PM

Okay...You all were right and I was wrong. We had a horrible experience with Airport Connection. Live and get what you pay for..

iamles May 21st, 2004 08:24 PM

Susan what was the problem with airport connection? I was going to book with them, but I think that I'll try limo service rome instead. One question, though: has anyone else been reluctant to send their credit card info by email (would not be a secure sight). I want to book this weekend.

Surfergirl May 21st, 2004 09:15 PM

Question: when you arrive at the airport, where do you meet limoservicerome? Do they have someone standing there, or do you go outside and try to figure out where?

A note of warning: most limousine services won't wait for you if your flight is delayed. The new Condé Nast Traveler has an Ombudsman article about that happening to a couple whose flight was 2 hours late; they were met by a 39-passenger bus, all the limo company had at that time.

sera May 22nd, 2004 12:58 PM

I use Limo Service Rome and highly recommend them. They wait right outside the luggage/customs area with a sign with your name on it. I fax my credit card number to them to confirm; I'd never e-mail my cc number.

JenniferW May 22nd, 2004 01:27 PM

Another vote for We used them on our 2 trips to Italy and they are very dependable.

ecat May 22nd, 2004 02:23 PM

Sorry to hear about your negative experience with airport connection. I've never had a ny problem with them. I hope you will e-mail them to let them know, maybe they will refund or credit you something.

I too just returned from Rome on 5/20 and used them to pick us up at the airport and return us back to FCO on our departure however I once again had no problem their service. I'll be going back in Oct. and will use them again

We were lucky to have booked their shuttle service because when we arrived that day there was a taxi strike and I know it was a mess for many passagers trying to get to the destinations after a long flight.

Hope the rest of your trip was pleasent.

Surfergirl May 22nd, 2004 10:26 PM

Thanks Sera for the note on where they wait. Much appreciated.

kybourbon May 23rd, 2004 08:41 AM

Limo Service Rome prices include 1 1/2 hours wait time at the airport. They are very good with responses so if you are concerned about flight delay just ask them if they monitor the airlines for delays.

tarakinspa May 26th, 2004 05:05 PM

does limoservice offer tours as part of the service and if so has anyone done this?? We are visiting for the first time so I thought it may be a good idea to add on to the transfer we already need.

Booked Airport Connection shuttle 2 for E25 from FCO to hotel about 4 days before flight. I didn't send credit card as not secure, planning to pay cash. Received email confirmation.

Arrived a few minutes early and waited about 10 minutes outside customs until a driver walked up pulling out a sign with my name. He took us to a car--I asked shuttle? and he said car. In my usual overnight flight daze I thought, who cares, I'll pay for car at this point. Anyway, off we go to the hotel. Easy drive, but he used a mix of a/c and open windows and I could have used all a/c. Had to circle a couple of blocks, but found the hotel. I pulled out my printed confirmation email and he said car same price as shuttle as no other customers. So we got a private car for E25 by chance.

Later I heard from my husband. On the online form it asks for name, address, phone, flight number, etc. I put in my home phone. At the time we were to land, someone from Airport Connection called my home (3:30am) and asked my husband where we were. He had looked online to ensure our plane took off the night before so he told them we were probably at the airport and my cellphone would not work in Italy.

I assume the driver went to the wrong arrival hall amd that was why he walked up a little later just taking the sign out.

Tarakinspa - Have a look at their website and you'll see that they do.

They charge € 31 per hour.

Hope this helps ...

verona Jun 10th, 2004 07:27 AM

Have been given a quote of 55 euro for limo service from airport to Piazza Navona by Roma Limo. Is this average? Also, how much do you usually tip?

sera Jun 10th, 2004 07:45 AM

Verona, that's a little high. Limoservice Rome charges 42E for airport to Rome trip.

erhart Jun 10th, 2004 08:26 AM

susan..i have paied only 35 euro from FCO to our hotel in rome.I don't remember the name of this agency but you can contact them by phone at number..348.3590089..i think this agency is called limoroma agency..limoservice roma ..sorry..don't remember

alan64 Jun 10th, 2004 08:48 AM

I was very pleased with limoservice rome (website url above) in 2002.

jabez Jun 10th, 2004 11:19 AM

We used Airport connection for pick up and departure. Friendly and efficient. My only mino complaints were that we were picked up with a Merecedes van and not a car and the driver forgot the credit card machine when we left (paid cash).
They did not add a surcharge for leaving earlier and found us even in the car rental return area (we were 45 minutes late returning our car at FCO)no additional charge.

atcken Jun 30th, 2004 10:39 AM

I think we are going to use limoservice rome for our upcoming trip in July. Do you tip the driver (think their website quotes a price that includes trip, luggage, and "service")?

alan64 Jul 1st, 2004 02:58 PM

I did tip the driver.

askias Jul 7th, 2004 08:12 AM

Well, I had an odd/strange/bad experience with Limoservice Rome before we even left the states, and so we didn't use them. After making the reservation online and receiving an email confirmation, someone named Bob called the house the following day and spoke to the wife. Apparently, he was "double confirming" the reservation and then launched into a number of instructions as to how to move about the Rome airport. The wife, being an experienced traveler, felt his "airport tips" were being delivered in a condescending manner because she was a woman, which precipitated an argument in which they hung up on each other. I should mention that my wife works in customer service, and therefore knows both good and bad customer service when she sees it. I'm also not sure why they would call with a reconfirmation less than 24 hours after sending me an email confirmation and why they would call with "tips" during the day on Wednesday, when there is little likelihood of anyone being home. The wife was randomly burning a vacation day before the start of their new fiscal year. At any rate, we quickly cancelled after that and used someone else.
