LIMERICK/DUBLIN HOTELS
We are leaving for Limerick on July 2. We need a comfortable hotel or B&B with private facilites for 1 or 2 nights. We also need one for Dublin for 3 or 4 nights beginning around July 10. Comfort, fair price and convenience. We're not asking much. HELP

Judy -- I came across this website for what looks like a nice B&B near Limerick sometime back -- haven't stayed there, but it looks promising. I may also have info on some places around Dublin -- I'll look in the morning when I'm wider awake than I am now! Good luck!
http://www.iol.ie/~avondoyl/avondoyl.htm

Judy,
I normally recommend either Jurys Christchurch Inn or Bewley's Inn in Ballsbridge - both arein Dublin. Ballsbridge is a short bus ride into the city while Christchurch is a short walk to Trinity College - Prices are very reasonable - only a per room rate without breakfast. Re Limerick I have stayed in the St George a few years ago and found it very central but no very delux. Book early as it is high season.

Hope this helps, if all else fails check out www.ireland.travel.ie for the tourist board or www.hidden-ireland.com for unusual places,

Post if you need any more help and by the way the weather is miserable at the moment here - cold and wet but with promises of sunshine at the weekend,

Regards

Cathy

We stayed at the St. George in Limerick in October and it was awful - rooms were small - even by European standards - and the service was non existent. They were doing renovations at the time which did not help - but even so I would not recommend it.

Hi Judy: I grew up in Limerick but have lived in the US for over ten years now. The Dunraven Arms is in a beautiful little village called Adare just 12 miles on the other side of Limerick and on your way to Dublin. So that would be about 30 miles from Shannon Airport. Also, the area of Bunratty is closer to Shannon -- I think only about 6 miles and that is very nice also. It has the castle and many nice B&B's and restuarants. You will probably be arriving in Shannon early in the morning, so you would have lots of time to explore either area. In Limerick itself I think everybody is talking about the Royal George Hotel?? There is a Jury's Hotel just over the bridge and there is a very nice little hotel called The Woodcliff on the Ennis/Limerick road about 20 mins. walk into town. (Really, I would suggest either of the villages first unless you have to visit people in Limerick) Have a great time.

Sorry did mean the Royal George in Limerick - but the suggestions in the neighbouring villages sound heaps better anyway.

Hi Judy,

I find that Jurys is about the best for price and basic comfort. Theres a database with online booking and general information for all hotels in Ireland at
www.goireland.com
Bye

Judy,
Go ireland is a commerical site which charges B&Bs to be listed. This is the site that Kieran is recommending. Use www.ireland.travel.ie instead as all B&Bs recommended by the Irish Tourist Board are checked yearly and have to meet very strict standards.

Lisa
