Lillet: blanc ou rouge?

I enjoy a Lillet here in US, and when I ordered some at Fontaine de Mars, they asked if I wanted blanc or rouge. I didn't realize the red existed, and as creature of habit, i ordered the white. Has anyone had the red, and is it available here in US?
Maybe it hasn't gotten to the 'Burgh, yet! :-)

Yes, we buy it here in Boston.
Different areas carry different things. I've had to buy my favorite pastis from California because you rarely see it here,

Never, ever, heard of or seen rouge, in the USA OR France.

I first had it in France and now buy it here. There's a sight I posted above where you can order it.

Thanks, Mimi, for the website! I'd like to try the rouge, although it said it's less dry than the blanc. How do you think the two compare?

One of our larger state stores (as we call them here in PA b/c they are run by the state) probably has it or can get it. I just tried at our little local Wine and Spirits shop.

I use another sight to order my rouge, a sweeter Lillet than the blanc.

Both rouge and blanc are available at Beverages & More, www.bevmo.com.

If you like cocktails and like Lillet Blanc try mixing half vodka (Grey Goose preffered) with half Littet blanc, strain into martini glasses. We call it a Montemarte! If you take the measurements to 1/3 each and add Gin you have a Vespa.

both blanc and rouge are widely available here in Seattle.

Cheers!

Grey Goose! my kind of girl, stormygirl.
thanks for the support when I know what I said is correct, coccinelle and Barbara.

grandmere, I'm at this moment drinking a toast to you with my Lillet Rouge.

grandmere Apr 7th, 2004 05:05 PM

Merci, Mimi! What a nice thought!
Funny, just about the same time you were toasting and posting, I was asking my husband to see if the large liquor store near his office has Lillet Rouge!

Stormygirl - I take it to a slightly different level. 3 parts Grey Goose Oranj and one part Llilet with an orange twist served on the rocks...drink a few of them on a sunny day and you'll be cerain you are in a cafe in one of Mimi's favourite French small towns....
